Rekha Bhardwaj (aka Rekha Vishal) is a playback singer in Bollywood. She received the National Film Award for the Best Female Playback Singer for her rendition of the song “Badi Dheere Jali” in the movie “Ishqiya” (2010).
She is married to the well-known film and music director Vishal Bhardwaj whom she met while attending Hindu College, Delhi. An avid Lata Mangeshkar fan, her first album “Ishqa Ishqa” was released in 2004 to a good reception.
Some of her popular songs are “Darling” (“7 Khoon Maaf”, 2011), “Ranjha Ranjha” (“Raavan”, 2010), “Ab Mujhe Koyi” (“Ishqiya”, 2010), “Raat Ke Dhai Bhaje” (“Kaminey”, 2009) and “Genda Phool” (“Delhi-6”, 2009). Though she has worked most with her husband Vishal Bharadwaj, other music directors she has collaborated with include A. R. Rahman, Anu Mallik, Adnan Sami, Sajid-Wajid, Abhijit Pohankar, Himesh Reshammiya and Piyush Mishra.
She has won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer twice for “Genda Phool” (“Delhi-6”, 2010) and “Darling” (“7 Khoon Maaf”, 2012).
