Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna is a renowned classical musician, musicologist, poet, composer, instrumentalist and playback singer. Balamuralikrishna began his career at the tender age of six and this Padma Vibhushan awardee has given over 25000 concerts to date.

He was born in Sankaraguptam, Andhra Pradesh on 6 July 1930 to parents who were both classical musicians. He began his tutelage under the able guidance of Sri Parupalli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu. He has made many playback outings in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. In Bollywood, he has composed and sung two songs, “Man Mein Maanini” and “Lalit Lavang Lata”, in the movie “Akhiri Geet” (1975).
